Midas was a wealthy king who, in his greed, was granted a wish by the god Dionysus. Midas asked for the ability to turn everything he touched into gold. At first, this power seemed like a blessing—he could transform ordinary objects into treasures. However, his joy quickly turned to despair when he realized the consequences. His food, his drink, even his daughter turned into solid gold as he embraced her. Midas learned a painful lesson: the pursuit of wealth and material gain can lead to the loss of the things that truly matter. Eventually, he begged Dionysus to reverse the curse. The god took pity on him, instructing Midas to wash in the river Pactolus, where his golden touch was removed.
